EVE - HEARTBROKEN MOM OF THE BIBLE

If you are a heartbroken mom you are in good company. Many (if not most) of the moms in the Bible had heartbreaking situations.

The first mom who ever lived was Eve. Her  heartbreaking situation was her "tale of two sons."

One son was a criminal - a murderer.
The other son was a homicide victim.
Her son Cain killed his brother Abel.

Today, moms of shooters at schools must be heartbroken. Both the moms of the victims and moms of the shooters. Eve had this double heartbreak of a murderer son and a victim son.

She was all alone compared to us. She had no other moms, counselors, support groups, books, online support, etc., in her griefs.

Do you ever feel alone as a mom, especially during those rough times?

Jesus assures His children that He will never leave us or forsake us in Hebrews 13:5.

Cain was sent away from his parents by God, so evidently, they never saw him again.

Do you have an adult child far away from you? Can you relate to how Eve must have felt?

Psalms  34:18 says God is near to the brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit.

He says to pour out our hearts to Him in Psalms 62:8.

We can tell him our anger, even our rage,  our fear, our sadness, our hopeless feelings honestly. He already knows how we feel, and unlike humans, He is always there for us. He is powerful enough not to be upset by what we feel or say to Him.

Has God given you other children to raise? Or has He shown you meaningful activities or jobs you can do?

One job God had for Eve after the loss of her two sons was the birth of Seth.
Jesus Christ was a descendant of Seth (through his stepfather Joseph.)

Did Eve realize God's plan through Seth? Evidently, whether she did or not, she faithfully did the next right thing  which included raising Seth.

God used Eve as part of His plan for good for humanity. I believe He can and will do the same for us.

…though we have seasons of our lives that include being heartbroken moms…

Maybe partly even because of our heartbroken times - He will use us.

As we become closer to God through these times, we learn and grow in wonderful ways. God is the Expert at bringing beauty from ashes in Isaiah 61:3.

We become wiser and more compassionate, and understanding of other heartbroken people.

Ecclesiastes 7:2 says it is better to be in the house of mourning instead of the house of laughter since we learn wisdom in mourning.

Please remember you are not alone. Remember you are in good company of women that  God used in His mysterious, sometimes painful, but also joyful perfect plan.

Your season of heartbreak may evolve into other seasons of life that includes meaningful activities and fulfilling jobs.

You may look back over your life someday and see  God's faithfulness and goodness. You may see how He used your heartbreak to help fulfill His plan for good, including to be a help and blessing to many other people.

Your season of heartbreak is not a permanent season. Like the barren, cold hard winter, that season eventually turns into spring.   Our lives have seasons too, with wonderful purposes in each season.

God's Promises given to His children, providing them with the ability to walk faithfully and victoriously.

"Having therefore these Promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the
flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (2 Corinthians 7:1).

"Behold, the LORD GOD will come with strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him: behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him. He shall feed His flock like a Shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young" (Isaiah 40:10-11).

"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is Faithful that promised)"
(Hebrews 10:23).

"If ye abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you"
(John 15:7).

"No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly"
(Psalm 84:11).

"Many pleasing things the LORD may withhold but 'no good thing.' He is the best judge of what is good for us. Some things are assuredly good, and these we may have for the asking through Jesus Christ our LORD.

Holiness is a good thing, and this He will work in us freely. Victory over evil tendencies, strong tempers, and evil habits He will gladly grant, and we ought not to remain without it.

Full assurance He will bestow, and near communion with Himself, and access into all truth, and boldness with prevalence at the mercy seat. If we have not these, it is from want of faith to receive and not from any unwillingness of God to give. A calm, a heavenly frame, great patience, and fervent love--all these will He give to holy diligence.

But note well that we must 'walk uprightly.' There must be no cross purposes and crooked dealings; no hypocrisy nor deceit. If we walk foully God cannot give us favors, for that would be a premium upon sin. The way of uprightness is the way of heavenly wealth-wealth so large as to include every good thing.

Note well that we must hear Jesus speak if we expect Him to hear us speak. If we have no ear for Christ, He will have no ear for us. In proportion as we hear we shall be heard.

"He will keep the feet of His saints"
(1 Samuel 2:9).

"The way is slippery and our feet are feeble, but the LORD will keep our feet. If we give ourselves up by obedient faith to be His holy ones, He will Himself be our guardian. Not only will He charge His angels to keep us, but He Himself will preserve our goings.

  1. He will keep our feet from falling so that we do not defile our garments, wound our souls, and cause the enemy to blaspheme.
  2. He will keep our feet from wandering so that we do not go into paths of error, or ways of folly, or courses of the world's custom.
  3. He will keep our feet from swelling through weariness, or blistering because of the roughness and length of the way.
  4. He will keep our feet from wounding: our shoes shall be iron and brass so that even though we tread on the edge of the sword, or on deadly serpents, we shall not bleed or be poisoned.
  5. He will also pluck our feet out of the net. We shall not be entangled by the deceit of our malicious and crafty foes.

With such a promise as this, let us run without weariness and walk without fear. He who keeps our feet will do it effectually.
